Theodore

Theodore began his life as a men’s button-down shirt by Van Heusen, crafted in a polished cotton blend and sourced in Los Angeles. The original shirt was carefully taken apart stitch by stitch in New York and reimagined through the Shkirt practice of complete deconstruction and reconstruction. Theodore has been transformed by hand into an emerald-green skirt with soft structure, fluid movement, and a quietly dramatic presence.

Theodore features an adjustable waistband, ruching at the back, and is finished with French seams. Rather than cutting new pieces, the shirt’s original pattern components were preserved and rearranged, allowing the fabric’s weight and rich color to define the final form. The result is a Shkirt that feels elegant, expressive, and timeless.

Theodore is made to fit you. The skirt can hug waists from approximately 20" to 37" and may feature four to eight buttons along the waistband, added during the tailoring process to allow for flexible, incremental adjustment and a precise fit. Share your measurements below, and Theodore will be individually tailored to your body. Each Shkirt is a one-of-a-kind piece, made by hand in our New York atelier with a focus on fit, finish, and longevity.

Theodore prefers a warm or cold wash with similar colors and a gentle hang dry.

Theodore comes with Lifetime Care. We offer complimentary repairs for craftsmanship-related issues and invite clients to return their skirts or Shkirts for repair, alteration, or responsible recycling as part of our zero-waste commitment. Clients are responsible for shipping costs.
