Louis began his life as a medium men’s cotton button-down shirt by IZOD, patterned in classic green gingham and sourced in the United States. The original shirt was carefully taken apart stitch by stitch in New York and transformed through the Shkirt practice of complete deconstruction and reconstruction. Rebuilt by hand, Louis is now a crisp, lightweight Shkirt with a clean swing and an easy, timeless charm.

Louis features an adjustable waistband, a single side pocket, ruching at the back, and is finished with French seams. Rather than cutting new pieces, the shirt’s original pattern components were preserved and rearranged, allowing the gingham pattern and cotton fabric to dictate the final silhouette. The result is a Shkirt that feels fresh, balanced, and quietly distinctive.

Louis is made to fit you. The skirt can hug waists from approximately 20" to 31" and may feature four to eight buttons along the waistband, added during the tailoring process to allow for flexible, incremental adjustment and a precise fit. Share your measurements below, and Louis will be individually tailored to your body. Each Shkirt is a one-of-a-kind piece, made by hand in our New York atelier with a focus on fit, finish, and longevity.

Louis prefers a warm or cold wash with similar colors and a gentle hang dry.

Louis comes with Lifetime Care. We offer complimentary repairs for craftsmanship-related issues and invite clients to return their skirts or Shkirts for repair, alteration, or responsible recycling as part of our zero-waste commitment. Clients are responsible for shipping costs.
