Gary began his life as an XL men’s button-down shirt by Brooks Brothers, crafted from crisp cotton in a classic seafoam green and sourced in New York City. The original shirt was carefully taken apart stitch by stitch and transformed through the Shkirt practice of complete deconstruction and reconstruction. Rebuilt by hand, Gary is now a tailored yet relaxed Shkirt with a clean drape and effortless versatility.

Gary features an adjustable waistband, ruching at the back, and is finished with French seams. Rather than cutting new pieces, the shirt’s original pattern components were preserved and rearranged, allowing the fabric’s structure and color to guide the final silhouette. The result is a Shkirt that feels refined, functional, and distinctly modern.

Gary is made to fit you. The skirt can hug waists from approximately 20" to 37" and may feature four to eight buttons along the waistband, added during the tailoring process to allow for flexible, incremental adjustment and a precise fit. Share your measurements below, and Gary will be individually tailored to your body. Each Shkirt is a one-of-a-kind piece, made by hand in our New York atelier with a focus on fit, finish, and longevity.

Gary prefers a warm or cold wash with similar colors and a gentle hang dry.

Gary comes with Lifetime Care. We offer complimentary repairs for craftsmanship-related issues and invite clients to return their skirts or Shkirts for repair, alteration, or responsible recycling as part of our zero-waste commitment. Clients are responsible for shipping costs.
