Hugo

Introducing Hugo, the Shkirt. A skirt made from a shirt.

Hugo features an adjustable waistband that accommodates waists from 26.5–30.5 inches (67.5–77.5 cm) and can be worn high or low on the waist. Sculptural draping, pleats at the back, and French seams complete the design.

Hugo began life as a single 100% cotton blue-and-white striped men's button-down shirt. Carefully taken apart, stitch by stitch, the shirt was reconstructed by hand into a one-of-a-kind skirt. Nothing is cut away, discarded, or wasted.

The original shirt lives on: the chest pocket is now the side pocket, the collar and cuffs form the waistband, and the sleeves become the front panels. An embroidered bald eagle carrying the American flag remains as a subtle reminder of the garment's first life.

Each Shkirt is handmade in New York and can be custom tailored upon request.
